A representative of In-N-Out was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.

According to another article from The Columbian, “The restaurant would be the first In-N-Out in Washington, according to planning documents submitted to the city of Ridgefield. The company plans to build near the under-construction Ridgefield Costco at Union Ridge Town Center on Pioneer Street, just west of Interstate 5.”

“The city expects the In-N-Out building to be a “unique and really high quality” design that complements Ridgefield and In-N-Out, said Ridgefield City Manager Steve Stuart. The company hasn’t given the city any indication of when the new restaurant would open, Stuart said.”

Circling back to the article from Portland Business Journal that was previously mentioned, it states, “It is still very early in the development process, so we are hopeful for a positive outcome, as we work with the city in pursuit of our permits and approvals,” Vice President of Store Development Mike Abbate said in a statement to the Business Journal.

“Once we do begin construction on a new location, it usually takes us eight to nine months to build the restaurant and open for business.”

According to In-N-Out’s website, the first In-N-Out opened in 1948. “Harry Snyder introduces California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand in a space barely 100 square feet at Francisquito and Garvey in Baldwin Park.”

“Every day before dawn, Harry visits the meat and produce markets to pick out fresh ingredients, which he prepares by hand. Meanwhile, his wife Esther diligently takes care of all the accounting for the new restaurant at their home right around the corner.”

Fast forward to 2023, and the website adds, “President and Owner, Lynsi Snyder, shares the company’s official story in her first book, “The Ins-N-Outs of In-N-Out Burger.” Through fun facts, historical photos, and transparent insight, Lynsi uncovers everything there is to know about California’s first drive-thru restaurant and how its initial tradition of serving its customers with high-quality food and service still exists today.”
