The team behind Harder Day Coffee Co. is the new owner of Water Avenue Coffee Company, Willamette Week reports.
Sortis Holdings, which has acquired several coffee companies in recent years, was the previous owner. Now, Harder Day Coffee Co. will take ownership of the Portland coffee brand. Harder Day will absorb the company’s employees, but the Water Avenue name will remain, according to the news outlet.
Founded in 2009, Water Avenue Coffee Company is a Portland-based coffee roaster with several locations, including a flagship café at 1028 SE Water Avenue, near the Willamette River.
Harder Day Coffee Co. has grown rapidly since it began just earlier this year. It was founded by Dustin Harder and Brody Day, also the owners of craft brewery Steeplejack Brewing Co.
“The Harder Day Coffee Company is a family owned and operated coffee company that roasts coffee in small batches and creates welcoming spaces to enjoy our coffee, pastries, beer and wine,” according to the company website.
They currently have locations in Woodstock, Beaverton, the Hollywood District, and one at the Spin Laundry Lounge on N. Fremont Street. A South Macadam location is also in the works.
