“Our tentative opening date is coming soon. We will be offering a variety of vegan and gluten-free north and south curries and appetizers,” founder Adnan Ali told What Now Portland.
“The concept of havelis dates back centuries, originating in the Mughal era. Haveli means mansion in Urdu and Hindi language. They symbolized not just affluence but also the tradition of hospitality, with their grand halls hosting lavish feasts and gatherings.”
“Haveli Restaurant draws inspiration from this rich history, aiming to recreate those times’ warmth, opulence, and culinary richness. The founders, Adnan Ali and Maninder Singh, opened Haveli to celebrate this heritage and share it with the community.”
“The restaurant honors traditional South Asian cuisine while offering a contemporary dining experience. If there’s a personal backstory—such as the founders’ familial ties to Havelis, their journey in the culinary world, or their desire to bring authentic South Asian cuisine to NW Portland.”
