A representative of Great Frontier Holdings was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Portland’s request.

While the final result of what it will look like with Great Frontier acquiring Ecliptic Brewing has not yet been confirmed, according to an article from Brewpublic, Ecliptic Brewing’s final day of restaurant service will be Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The same article from Brewpublic provided an update with more information, stating “The new owner of Ecliptic Brewing has been revealed via Brewbound as Great Frontier Holdings, the current owner of Ninkasi Brewing, Ashland Hard Seltzer, Wings and Arrow, Villager Spirits, Mucho Aloha and Voyage Hard Iced Tea.”

“The Brewbound article states that under the new umbrella of Great Frontier Holdings, all production of Ecliptic Brewing will move to Ninkasi Brewing in Eugene, Oregon, and John Harris will stay on in some capacity with the brand that he created over ten years ago.”

“Famed Oregon brewer, John Harris, opened Ecliptic Brewing in October 2013 after spending years brewing first at McMenamins and then at Deschutes Brewery and finally at Full Sail Brewing. Ecliptic Brewing grew during many of these years. It even expanded with the opening of a second brewery and taproom in November 2021. Ecliptic Brewing’s Moon Room took over the former home of Base Camp Brewing that is situated just 3 miles southeast of Ecliptic’s Mothership location.”

“What the future holds for Ecliptic Brewing is a bit of a mystery right now. Its social media post does not go into much detail as contracts and presumably, non-disclosure agreements are being signed with the brand’s new ownership,” the article from Brewpublic adds.

When it comes to Great Frontier Holdings, it seems that their beginnings started from a merger of two companies. “Oregon-based Ninkasi Brewing is merging with Wings & Arrow to form Great Frontier Holdings, according to Brewbound.”

“The move solidifies Great Frontier as the third-largest alcohol producer in the western U.S., per a May 31 press release from the new brand. Executives from both former companies remain in leadership at Great Frontier: Wings & Arrow founder Josh Landon will assume the position of CEO while Ninkasi founders Jamie Floyd and Nikos Ridge will oversee operations and management,” an article from VinePair states.
